Acura Transmissions

Typical Acura continually sets new standards in automotive design and engineering through its innovation, refined beauty and precision manufacturing. Through many groundbreaking technologies it consistently redefines itself and the auto industry—resulting in a selection of vehicles that deliver performance, comfort, and safety.

It begins with a luxury car that offers an enjoyable driving experience, but at the same time provides the highest level of safety possible. Through its Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™), which builds protection into the structure of the vehicle, Acura is the only luxury brand to receive a 5-star rating on every impact test conducted on its 2009 model line by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

A 3.7-liter VTEC® V-6 engine uses two different camshaft profiles. By fine-tuning the lift and opening duration of the intake and exhaust valves, it produces low-end torque and high-end horsepower for an exhilarating rush from the start and when cruising down the road.

In the cabin, technology is both useful and usable. It offers an intuitive design and placement of vital controls, along with multiple methods of interaction, including steering wheel-mounted controls. The quick read of various systems afforded by the Multi-Information Display affords heighten control and increased awareness that deepens the overall driving experience.

Although Hondas in general are known for their overall dependability, mechanical failures do occur. Even with the transmission. For example, you may experience a shudder or vibration when driving between 20 to 40 mph when the torque converter lock-up clutch is in the partial lock-up mode. This is due to irregularities in the torque converter face that prevents the lock-up clutch from engaging smoothly. It’s repaired by replacing the torque converter.

Another potential problem is a slipping transmission between gears. This may be due to particles blocking off oil passage, which prevents the transmission from shifting smoothly.

If you’re experiencing transmission problems in any Acura vehicle, you should only trust it with experienced specialists. Of course we work on all makes and models of cars—foreign and domestic. We do so with expert skill and yet we can still save you money over replacing your transmission. So when you need expert transmission care for your car, call Westside Transmission at 310-235-2754.
