My odyssey began late after noon on a monday with a big bang on the southbound 405 freeway. the truck was towing two jet skis, when the transmission literally exploded inside the case. after maneuvering the crippled truck to a safe zone, i started to make phone calls. The insurance company advised me that westside transmission was very highly rated repair facility. I called westside and made arrangements to tow the truck in for repairs. Steve at westside met me to receive the truck, even after the shop had closed. However, steve was concerned about leaving the jet skis parked in the area. He was kind enough to offer to trailer them to his home for safe keeping, but i had already made arrangements with my son to have them towed. I received a call from steve tuesday and he advised me the transmission had chunks of metal debris in the pan. further investigation found the rear differential needed rebuilding also. i gave him the go ahead see that the truck had 232,000 plus miles on the frame. The truck was ready friday morning. it only took three and a half day to complete major repairs. in my airline career, i have dealt with highly trained aviation maintenance technicians; i would have to say westside transmission and auto also meets that high standard.
