Westside Transmission provided excellent and quality service in near auto crisis with honest communication and a soft sell while not bleeding us financially dry. Our new (used) Audi, recently inspected and approved by a dealer, threw us a P0741 check engine light code. I first thought it might be related to timing belt replacement we just completed, but mechanically this was not the case. After spending hours on forums to learn that '02 Audi's (and others) are plagued with a faulty torque converter, we started calling around to different mechanics and transmission shops. What first struck me as different with Westside Transmission was their website included content dealing specifically with our problem. The website was also informative without pushing their services on us. The second thing that struck me was the direct and clear communication from the owner, Jack. When queried about our specific issue, Jack did not immediately default to a straight replacement of the part as others had but suggested running an additional diagnostic to further flush out our issue. It didn't hurt that there was also a 15% on-line discount for services. Upon dropping off the car, Jack took additional time to educate my girlfriend on the purpose of a torque converter by using a cut and exploded model in the lobby while demonstrating what seals usually start leaking and result in the damage. He then took us into the garage to show us both the transmission and a torque converter of an Audi they were servicing. Long story - short - upon removing the torque converter we discovered that we needed to rebuild the transmission. Again, Westside Transmission was honest and clear with their communication with us. They provided a worst case/best case scenario with rebuilding and not rebuilding the transmission. At this point I called around to find out how much a rebuild would cost and their quote was 50% cheaper than the dealer (this included the work already done on the torque converter) and their warranty could not be matched at the other shops. Three months later and we have not had an issue with the rebuild and we still have 15 months of warranty coverage. If you are having transmission issues, then I would highly suggest giving Westside Transmission a call.
